Exporting PNG in Guitar Pro 8

Guitar Pro 8 allows you to export your score as a single PNG image using the File > Export > PNG menu.

This format, optimized for computer screens, is ideal for sharing your scores on websites, social media, or digital presentations.

Export Options

The export window offers several options to customize your PNG file:

PNG export window
  • File name: Assign a name to your PNG file.
  • Destination folder: Select the save location.
  • Resolution: Adjust the resolution to balance image quality and file size.
  • Export scope:
    • Export a specific page, a range of pages, or all pages by selecting Pages.
    • Export only a selected portion of the score, pre-marked with your mouse, by selecting Selection.
  • Transparent background: Enable this option, exclusive to PNG, to integrate your score onto a colored background or image without a visible border, useful for graphic projects.

Once your settings are verified, click Export to complete the process. You can also choose to automatically open the destination folder after exporting.

Automatic Naming

Hover your mouse over the Information icon next to the File Name field to display a list of keywords for automatically naming your file. A preview of the generated name appears below the field.

Keyword Name Function Example
%T Score title Name the file based on the score’s title Anatole.png
%t Track name Name the file based on the current track’s name LeadGuitar.png
%n Track number Name the file based on the current track’s number 3.png
%N Tracks count Name the file based on the total number of tracks 5.png
%d Date Name the file based on the export date 2022-03-30.png
%h Time Name the file based on the export time 13-03.png

Benefits of the PNG Format

The PNG format, compatible with most digital tools, provides sharp visual quality for online display or inclusion in documents. The transparent background option, for example, simplifies integration into custom designs, such as posters or websites.
