Timo Brauwers
Ever since he was a young boy the guitar has always been vital for Timo Brauwers. One important stage in his professional career was his time at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem (NL), where he studied Jazz and popular guitar. It was in those days that he started playing the steel-string guitar and realized that it is this very instrument which helps him to express emotions and moods with an acoustic guitar. Since then Timo has composed many songs, ranging from melancholic to sad and happy. He has played many concerts in the field of acoustic music.
His musical journey has been adorned with compositions well received, earning him a place on stages alongside luminaries like Franco Morone, Joscho Stephan, and Petteri Sariola. The release of his CD paved the way for his debut album, “On My Way” in 2010 under Sony Music, catapulting him to win the Best Instrumental Solo Artist and second place as Best Guitarist at the German Rock and Pop Award the same year.
2014 witnessed the unveiling of “Journey to the Unknown” through his own label, further establishing his prowess and earning accolades at the German Rock and Pop Awards. The year 2016 saw Timo embracing a unique opportunity to perform with six Breedlove guitars, culminating in the release of his EP “1st Selection.”
With “After the Storm” in 2018, Timo ventured into new territory, blending his virtuoso guitar playing with vocal performances. The album featured collaborations with esteemed artists like Petteri Sariola, cementing Timo’s place in the modern fingerstyle guitar scene. This was highlighted by his triumph in the “WDR2 – Szene im Westen” competition in March 2019.
Timo’s mastery extends beyond his compositions; his innovative Fingerstyle technique simulates a full band experience, weaving melody, harmony, bass, and percussion into a singular acoustic narrative. Influenced by guitar greats across genres, from John Mayer and Steve Lukather to Franco Morone and Andy McKee, Timo has carved out a niche that transcends traditional guitar playing.
Beyond his original work, Timo‘s creative renditions of popular songs have garnered significant attention on YouTube, with his covers of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “I See Fire” resonating with a global audience.
Timo Brauwers is not just a musician; he is a storyteller.
I have used GP since the very beginning of my teaching career in 1999 and I still think it’s the best way to transcribe songs and lessons.
Guitar Pro is easy to use and you can write down even huge arrangements for orchestra or big bands. I use the playback for my online workshops and since you can add audio tracks there are no limits for my online teaching.
