John Eccles tabs
A composer who "became a fanatical Quaker around 1660", he castigated music in his pamphlets and was repeatedly prosecuted for civil disobedience during the English Restoration. Despite his hostile father, John Eccles received a solid musical education, as did his brother Henry Eccles, born in 1670. In 1694, he entered court service as musician to the King's private chamber.
