France is not particularly famous for its rock artists, so when an eccentric and talented singer songwriter like Mathieu Chedid comes along, people are bound to take notice. Starting in the late nineties as an acoustic performer with a curious hairdo, he evolved into a full-blown Rickenbacker-wielding guitar hero. His second outing, Je Dis Aime, is a great funk rock record with lush arrangements and clever guitar parts.
