09/26/2012 - Guitar Pro announces New Education Licensing Program

LILLE, France - September 26, 2012 - Arobas Music, publisher of the tablature playing and editing software Guitar Pro, announces the creation of an "Education" program. This free program allows schools and other musical institutions worldwide to procure and deploy Guitar Pro 6 across an entire school, campus and/or system with a single license key.

09/07/2012 - Guitar Pro partners up with the Next BendNote Talent

LILLE, France - September 7, 2012 - The Next BendNote Talent is a new type of guitar talent contest will reward one winner only and allow him or her to launch into a professional musical career. Guitar Pro will offer the lucky winner an endorsement contract and a Guitar Pro Extended collector’s boxed pack.

What is the “Next BendNote Talent”?

The Next BendNote Talent is an artistic springboard for would-be professional guitar and bass players. The rule is simple: participants register online on http://www.bendnote.com and upload a video they have made on YouTube.

The 10 contestants with the most votes by visitors will be selected for the grand final in Paris, which will take place in the “Divan du Monde” concert hall on December 7, 2012. Each will get to play his/her composition in front of a jury of experts made of Patrice Vigier (Vigier guitars), Christophe Godin (of Mörglbl and Gnô), Olivier Morvan (co-founder of BendNote), and Ludovic Egraz (chief editor of Guitar Xtreme magazine), hoping to become THE “Guitar Hero” of tomorrow.

A musical career at stake?

Only one winner will be selected at the end of the contest. 03/13/2012 - Guitar Pro Tab Player app, optimized for tablets

LILLE, France – March 13, 2012 - A few weeks after the release of Guitar Pro Tab Player for Android, Arobas Music announces a new update 1.1.0 including new features. This release brings an optimized app for touchscreen tablets, as well as improved real-time playback configuration, sound quality, and file import.

The main improvement comes with optimized music-score viewing and overall app features on touchscreen tablets. The app's users will now be able to view several lines of their tabs at a time, in portrait and in landscape formats.

Audio performances are enhanced too: a new "Higher sound quality" button has been added, and it is now possible to configure the playing of music-score in real time – changing instrumental soundbanks, activating countdown and/or metronome, changing tempo on the fly, and transposing string instruments by half-tones.

At the request of users, the file-import system has been simplified. A new tab named "Files" is now accessible from the Home interface of the application, gathering the entire collection of sheet music that has been downloaded onto the phone or tablet.

03/04/2012 - Guitar Pro Mobile Apps update 1.5.0

LILLE, France - March 4, 2012 - Arobas Music proudly presents version 1.5.0 of the Guitar Pro application on iOS and Android. This new version brings an added Undo/Redo functionality, the display of chord diagrams, key signatures handled on the staff, and new tuning options.

*An enhanced tab player*
Guitar Pro now displays on the screen the chord diagrams, key signatures, and accidentals of the imported score files whenever those include such elements. A new, dedicated window enables the user to read each chord individually and thus more easily determine which key the tune is written in.

The "Looped playback" feature has undergone a facelift and now offers more precise beat-by-beat selection. It is activated by a mere double-tap on the screen, and allows to focus on the more complex passages in a piece.

*A more intuitive NotePad*
The "Undo/Redo" option makes it possible for the user to revise an editing action and thus save some precious time. With the two directional arrows on the screen, it is now easier to develop or undo one's ideas for riffs, arpeggios, and chord sequences.

The app furthermore offers some new setting options such as customizable "string by string" tuning and an adjustable capo on bars 1 to 12.

*General options*
At the users' request, the Guitar Pro shortcut system has been optimized. The looped playback, countdown, metronome, and chord-diagram display can be accessed via the main playing and editing interfaces.

Finally, the tab can now be left to play on in the background. This feature allows the user to open another application if he/she wishes, for example, to record him-/herself or play with an effect emulator.

04/05/2010 - Guitar Pro 6 is finally released

LILLE, France - April 05, 2010 - The Arobas Music Team is happy to announce the release of a sixth version of its software Guitar Pro, after more than three years spent in development.

An entire rewrite, this new version is truly a major evolution for Guitar Pro, with its new interface and completely redesigned ergonomy. Characterized by a soberer presentation and leaving more room to the score, access to the various editing and sound-setting tools has been made optimal via a side-panel. You can now open several documents simultaneously, create them from templates, and edit them in full-screen mode.

Many new musical symbols appear along with the possibility to edit over 4 voices, which thus improves writing generally for fretted instruments as well as other types of instruments – such as the piano with the grand staff. Other symbols like the “slash” notation, or multirest and simile signs now help make the score look lighter. A stylesheet has also appeared, for the user to customize his/her scores’ looks entirely, in classical or jazz style, and with 70 setting parameters. You can even adjust the sizes of measures by hand with the “design” mode.

As for the RSE (Realistic Sound Engine), a huge leap forward has been made. The soundbanks benefit enormously from being studio-recorded, they include many articulations (thumb, index finger, pick…), tempo is perfectly stable, uploading is almost instantaneous, and you can customize playing styles (fingerpicking, slap, etc.). The RSE opens up to non-fretted instruments by offering over a hundred soundbanks and fifty effect-simulators, many ready-made presets, as well as the possibility for you to create your own effect-chains. The whole thing amounts to 1.8 GB in sound-files, and some additional banks will be added in the near future. What’s more, a new Automations window simplifies editing for changes in tempo, volume, and panoramic.

Beyond all of those new features, Guitar Pro 6 retains and even improves on the user-friendliness that has made its success so far.
