Guitar Pro application user's guide

In this guide you will be introduced to the whole set of functionalities available in the Guitar Pro application.
File import


File import
> Info : the application allows you to read all Guitar Pro files (.gp3, .gp4, .gp5, .gpx). Note that it also supports files in .ptb format.
To import new files, press the "Add" icon (+). You are then offered three methods for importing files:
From a computer
  • On your computer, open your Internet navigator
  • Type in the web address (http://…) displayed on the screen of your iPhone
  • Your web navigator then shows the following management interface, on which you can:
    • drag-and-drop a file into the area located below the "+" icon to add it to your library
      > Info: this may not work with all web navigators, in which case just click directly on the specified area
    • download files onto the computer from your iPhone by clicking on the file's title
    • delete the files you have previously selected

From a computer

From iTunes
  • To upload scores from iTunes, you simply need to:
    • connect your iPhone to your computer
    • in iTunes, select your iPhone, and click on "Apps"
    • choose "Guitar Pro" in the file-sharing section
  • You can now:
    • drag-and-drop your new file, or click on the "Add" button to upload it onto your iPhone
    • download files from your iPhone onto your computer, with the "Save as" button
    • delete a file by clicking on its title and hitting the "Del" key on your computer


From iTunes

From Safari or Mobile Mail (only with IOS 4 and later):
Use safari to download scores just as you would do if you were on your home computer.

The following icons will let you access all of the files you already own.

Several options are available for presentation:
  • by artists
  • by favorites
  • by albums
  • by addition history
  • by opening history
> Info: scroll your list downward to access the search bar.

Once you have opened a file, discover your playback interface.

> Info: You can create loops and work on difficult sections, by selecting and then pressing lengthily on the zone you wish to play in loops.
> Info: to go back to the song list menu, click on "Quit".

Transposition: the scores' tones can be adjusted half-tone by half-tone.
> Info: this will affect only the guitar and bass tracks.
Switching the current track: press the track you wish to see on your screen.
Individual track settings:
  • volume
  • solo track
  • mute track
  • selected soundbank

On that screen, you will be able to manage your parameters for displaying and reading scores.

Type of notation: to show standard or tablature notation, separately or together. Or choose to show the Slash notation.

Score size: adjust the size of your score for your needs and comfort.
> Info: the score's size adapts to the orientation of the iPhone or to the score's contents. Managing metronome and countdown: to practice in time, you can choose activate or deactivate the metronome and/or the countdown. You can also adjust the volume, and change the soundbank selected for the metronome.
The application gives you the possibility to display or hide the guitar fretboard or the keyboard below the score.
> Info: left-handers have not been forgotten!
> Info: the keyboard or fretboard will be displayed depending on what instrument has been selected for the active track. By default, playback will stop at the end of the tune. You can activate the loop option for continuing playback.

You can consult and edit the information concerning the score.
> Info: The "Reset" button allows you to get back to the score's information at the date at which it was added to your iPhone.

With the "Export" button, you can share your files by e-mailing them :
  • in .gpx format
  • in .pdf format

> Info: the export will not take into account the changes made to the tablature's information.
> Info: pre-visualizing the PDF file will also allow you to print directly from your iPhone (provided you have an AirPrint-compatible printer).
