User's Guide to the Guitar Pro Tab Player app on Android

This tutorial presents the Android Guitar Pro Tab Player app and all of its features.
Importing and opening files

You can import new files into the app in two different ways:

By copying files into the application
From a computer
  • Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network that your computer is on
  • On the Home screen of the application, click on "Add" (push the "Options" button of your phone)
  • On your computer, open your web navigator
  • Type the Internet address (http://...) appearing on your phone's screen into the address bar
  • Your navigator will display a management interface in which you can:
    • drag-and-drop a file onto the Upload box to release that file online
    • delete files by selecting them, then clicking on "Delete files" at the bottom of the page

From a computer

From the "Files" index in the Guitar Pro Tab Player app
  • Click on the "Files" tab to browse then open any of the music scores available on your phone. The files selected will be copied into the app's library, then opened.

2. By using the phone as a USB drive
  • Plug your phone or your tablet as a USB drive into your computer to import tabs. Make sure you do place the music scores into the “Android/data/com.arobasmusic.guitarpro/files” directory of your device.

Several modes of display are at your disposal:
  • by title
  • by artist
  • by album
  • by favorites
  • by date added
  • by date opened

Once you have opened a file, discover your player interface.

Characteristics
  • In playing mode, the notes/beats being played are highlighted in blue on the score.
  • To switch tracks (e.g., switch from guitar track to bass track), slide your finger on the screen upward (previous track) or downward (following track).
  • A time marker is displayed above the score. It makes it possible to navigate faster over the score's various sections.
  • You get an indication of the tuning used for the active track, bottom left of your screen.
  • You can have the virtual fretboard/keyboard displayed below the score (menu: Settings). The fingering for the active track is represented by yellow circles on the fretboard/keyboard. Empty circles represent the notes played within the current bar.
Infoyou can create loops by pressing and holding on the zone you wish to loop, so you can practice difficult passages.

Whenever you tap on the phone's screen, new items appear on the screen:

  • The virtual fretboard/keyboard can be displayed below the score (menu: Settings). The fingering for the active track is represented by yellow circles on the fretboard/keyboard.
  • Play and rewind cursor
  • On-the-fly tempo changes
  • Managing the loop playback of the current selection
  • Title of the music score and name of the current instrumental track

Transposition: the tone of string instruments can be adjusted by half-tones.
Switching current tracks: tap on the name of the track you wish to see on your screen.
Individual track setting:
  • volume
  • solo track
  • mute track
  • selected soundbank

Notation mode: display standard or tablature notation, together or separately; or choose to view the score in Slash-notation mode.

<strong>Size of the score</strong>: set the size of your music score according to your needs.

> Info: the size adapts to the orientation of your phone and to the content of the music score.
Managing the metronome and countdown: to play in time, activate the metronome or the countdown. You can also adjust the volume and change the soundbank of the metronome.
The application lets you either display or hide the fretboard or keyboard below the score.

Info:  either the keyboard or the fretboard will be displayed, depending on the instrument used for the current track. You do, however, have the possibility to force the keyboard to be displayed for guitar/bass tracks.
By default, playback stops at the end of the song. Activate the loop for continuous playback.

You can look up and edit the details of the music score. 
Infothe "Reset" button allows you to reset the information entered when you added the file onto your phone.
