THIERRY JAILLANT

THIERRY JAILLANT [Picking, France]

Thierry Jaillant, aka « Charcaux », started his career as a pianist at age 5. At 15, he started the guitar to play with friends, in various bands. A "pioneer" in elecronic music, he started trying to connect synthesizers and computers together, which he finally did in 1985 with the help of some friends. One of their greatest achievements was developing the M.I.D.I. norm, which is still widely used today. (Those friends then went on to found Sound Blaster, Turtle Beach, Voyetra Technologie, Cakewalk, and Passport.) Until 1998 Thierry worked in the greatest French studios. He picked up the guitar in 2006 under the pseudonym "Charcaux," after the disease that hit him in 2003 and forced him to close down his piano after 5 albums with Artemis Records. He then works on some scores given to him by Marcel Dadi on one of their trips to the USA; he later met François Sciortino. He's now preparing his comeback with a record in the picking style on the electro-acoustic guitar.
I have been working with Guitar Pro since version 4. It is for me an indispensable tool to help me transcribe piano pieces for the guitar, as well as to compose.

DEFECT DESIGNER

DEFECT DESIGNER [Metal, Siberia]

Defect Designer call themselves an extreme schizo death metal band, from the very heart of Siberia. They are very passionate about what they do, and seem driven by a force that enabled them to get over and beyond all possible hardships just to play their music. Their debut album “Wax” was recorded, mixed and mastered with Wojtek and Slavek Wieslawski in Hertz, Poland, and was released in 2009 by My Kingdom Music. Defect Designer was the first band to be endorsed by Guitar Pro 6!
Guitar Pro is responsible for bringing Defect Designer to life. When I had no musicians and even no instruments years ago I used Guitar Pro 3 to tab songs. It all came in handy later and it was really convenient for us to use this software because our music has complicated parts. Believe me it all would have ended if there had been no Guitar Pro...

HOUSE VS HURRICANE

HOUSE VS HURRICANE [Progressive Rock, Australia]

Like any young band, House VS Hurricane started as an idea amongst friends. Two years later, House VS Hurricane have become one of the most rapidly rising acts in Australian heavy music today -- performing with Bullet For My Valentine (UK) in Jan. 2009, then at the Melbourne leg of the mammoth Soundwave Festival, supporting Misery Signals, The Devil Wears Prada and our very own Parkway Drive, and headlining two of their own sold out national tours. The band eventually left for the US to record their debut full-length, Perspectives with famed producer Brian McTernan -- a stunning twelve-track displaying a juxtaposition of unbridled heaviness and ambience, a sound that is often attempted but rarely executed with this much success.

NOW IS A SHIP

NOW IS A SHIP [Heavy, USA]

NOW IS A SHIP formed in late 2009 to keep today's melodic hardcore scene moving forward. Formed out of Orange County, CA, the band has a collective group of musicians writing from many views of the hardcore scene to bring together their unique style of heavy music mixed with catchy melody. Soon to release their EP, NOW IS A SHIP wants nothing more than to hit the road bringing their music and lyrics to inspire the masses and meet everyone along the way.
Guitar Pro has been the best tool for me today in the music writing process. With its great use of realistic instrument sounds and easy score sheet layout, bands today could use this program to skip the effort and money of preproduction and find their sound and style through Guitar Pro.

WALDEMAR VON BAUßNERN

WALDEMAR VON BAUßNERN [Classical, Germany]

Waldemar Edler von Baußnern (November 29, 1866 – August 20, 1931) was a composer and teacher who belonged to the generation of Puccini , Mahler , Debussy , Strauss , Schönberg , Wolf , Busoni , Pfitzner , Skrjabin and Reger. Unfortunately much of his work is unknown. The Baußnern Society seeks to promote awareness of his music. Baußnern's great-great grandson, 13-year-old Yannick Holtkamp, transcribed one of Baußnern's easier piano compositions – Drei Kleine Sonaten – into the GPX format on his own with ease.
This transcription not only shows what a great program Guitar Pro is, but also how easy it is to use. We hope this will help make Waldemar von Baußnern's music a bit more popular, and thank the Guitar Pro team for their fantastic support! – Hans Ajiet Holtkamp, member of the Baußnern Society and great grandson of Waldemar von Baußnern.
